"Like most of you visiting this site I, too, hate exercise--really! But I LOVE being active and I love to play. So what's the difference, you may ask? Maybe it's as simple as a state of mind. When I was a kid, I loved Frisbee, jump rope, climbing trees and monkey bars (I still do!), and playing dodgeball. But gym class--ugh! That was a different story. Even today, you won't catch me in any class that begins with an 'A' and ends with 'bics.' But hiking, rock climbing, cycling, weightlifting, and gymnastic movements that require little coordination are all forms of play and release that I crave physically, spiritually, and mentally. I typically spend about six to eight hours a week doing something. Whatever my schedule, whatever my mood, doing something physical just makes me feel happy--and happiness is contagious. "
